The announcement that short story writer Alice Munro has been awarded the 2013 Nobel Prize for Literature was met with jubilation in her home country of Canada today. And Canadians throughout the world are excited too. Rafael “Canadian Ted” Cruz, currently residing in Texas, tweeted congratulations to his “countrywoman” and suggested there should be a national day of celebration. The tweet was quickly deleted after NBC’s David Gregory reminded Cruz that he currently has a recurring role playing a US Senator on the GOP’s Sunday morning infomercial “Meet the Press.”
